When you spend all your time in front of a box inside a box inside another box inside a city, it's easy to forget what really matters - and what on earth you're working for


They call it a “staycation”: rather than jet off across the world for a holiday, leaving a huge carbon footprint in your wake, enjoy a time-out closer to home (or, for the truly austere, in your own house). Learn to enjoy the pleasures in life without spending a huge amount of money or eating up a huge amount of resources.

The idea isn’t entirely appealing – you can’t experience new cultures and open your mind to new ideas in your own backyard the way you can surrounded by foreign languages and foreign ideas in foreign countries. But, for a long weekend away, England doesn’t do too bad. This is Cornwall.

Who knew that this small, flat, wet island could hold such spectacular settings?
